About Me

The Coach Part, at least.

I have trained as a coach with the Gestalt Centre for Coaching and with the OCM.

I have worked with a number of clients over the last few years and have seen them successfully transition into better roles.

I want to help people work on themselves and, in developing self awareness they grow, become a better version of themselves.

I want to work with people that want to find new work, and have an interest in working with creatives.

Coaching 101

What is Coaching?

Collins dictionary thinks coaching is about teaching. Definitely not! The act of coaching is to facilitate a journey of discovery and growth.

During a Coaching session one will explore and journey through awareness, becoming more complete.

A Coach is not Mentor

But, they might be a bit similar at times.

A Coach is not a Consultant

The consultant will always be the expert.

As the client uncovers questions, there is a natural instinct to ask the coach for advice or guidance. The coach, rather than answering (as a consultant) will draw the focus to the clients need for the answer, and consider why the answer needs to be given, rather than discovered for themselves.

The Coach is not a Therapist

There is satisfaction and relief in the coaching relationship, but much of the work is around what the coachee can or wants to do. The Therapeutic relationship is one centered on the clients pain and desire to heal.

Coach the Person

Studies have shown that to make the deepest, most fundamental changes, the coaching relationship focuses on the person, not the presented problem.

Whether you are looking to move into a new job, a new career, or if you are “stuck” trying to get a project off the ground, or to make progress in an idea, working together, we could see you make substantial progress.

How Does Coaching Feel?

What can I expect from a typical coaching session

Coaching In Practice

Working to a Goal

All coaching sessions are different and subject to what a client needs on a particular day, but most sessions (from my experience) tend to follow the Gestalt Cycle of Experience.

After welcomes and settling into the session for the day, the client will share their desired focus or goal for the session. With this shared the we will explore the sensations and feelings around the topic. These feelings and sensations give the client valuable information about the situation, which manifests as deeper awareness. Knowing more about the topic or situation will either draw the client in, or repel them, bringing a great deal of energy to the session. The energy and drive encourages the client to a state of mobilisation, which is a driver for the client to take concerted action. As the client is in the process of doing something, they will experience a sense of connection (contact) with the situation or focus. Contact can be a very powerful moment for a client and will often result in a change of opinion or perspective about the topic or focus. This change in attitude, and the “lesson learnt” gives the client a deep sense of satisfaction and resolution to the situation, this sense of satisfaction is the closure required to the situation.

Testimonials

An Experiencer

A wonderful experience. Truly blessed to have been paired with such a bright and caring person as Amos. My life and future has benefited greatly from our time together.

First Timer

This is the first time I’ve had any kind of professional coaching or mentoring so I was somewhat nervous, however Amos was good at putting my mind at ease. In our sessions,
we’ve talked through a number of issues and Amos has been good at helping me analyse them, identify causes and come up with actions to help me move forward. We’re partway through the process and I definitely feel like Amos has helped me make progress. I look forward to continuing with working with Amos.

Heard

Amos listened intently, empathically and I felt understood. I feel confident that as a result of this, future sessions will result in
significant growth and achievement. I am completely satisfied with Amos’ coaching so far.
